The University of Valladolid and the Clinical Hospital of Valladolid: Pioneering Innovation for Newborn Care

At ORTHOMEDICAL3D we are excited to announce a significant advancement in the diagnosis and treatment of cranial deformities in infants. In collaboration with the University Clinical Hospital of Valladolid and the University of Valladolid, we have initiated an ambitious and groundbreaking study designed to transform our understanding and management ofthese conditions in their early stages.

Our objective is to establish an accurate, contemporary, and realistic database regarding the evolution of cranial geometry in newborns. To accomplish this, we are employing non-invasive 3D scanning technology, o analyze all infants born in the hospital over the course of a full year. This data will enable us to transcend outdated infant growth charts—predicated solely on head circumference and derived from data that fails to represent current diversity—thereby providing a more comprehensive and personalized perspective tailored to each patient.

Furthermore, the study encompasses the monitoring of infants with both positional cranial deformities (such as plagiocephaly or brachycephaly) and synostotic deformities (including scaphocephaly and trigonocephaly). We are assessing the  actual efficacy of custom cranial orthoses by objectively measuring the applied pressure and the resultant outcomes, with the aim of further optimizing our treatments.
